Mazda3 Offered in both a sedan and wagon, this sporty model offers a great car for the family, as well a fun track car.

Has anyone tried installing aftermarket 3rd Gen Mazda 6 coilovers to a 3rd Gen 3?

Default Has anyone tried installing aftermarket 3rd Gen Mazda 6 coilovers to a 3rd Gen 3?

Im aware the oem have different specifications, but for aftermarket coils, I’m seeing some offer a set, like corksport, that’s both for 3rd gen Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. I used to have a Mazda 3 on air suspension and when I was doing my research at that time, Ive been in a few discussions where some would tell me a Mazda 6 set would also it.

Some suspension parts besides the shock and struts are interchangeable, like the top hat, control arms, stabilizer links, etc.

With that being said, are aftermarket 3rd gen coils technically the same for 3 and the 6?

You would need to go to the manufacturer and hopefully they will offer all the specifications on the parts you are considering. That is the way you research when you are deciding to use any aftermarket offered suspension or chassis part that you are contemplating to use that they do not show as an offered to fit for your vehicle.

What do you mean by all the specifications on the parts? I have a set of coilovers for my 6 that I took off and posted them up for sale and someone was wondering if they would fit their 3.

Ok well then you or the prospective buyer needs to contact the manufacture or the distributor of the coil over and inquire to the answer to that question. And if they do not have a listing then it is buyer beware because they were not engineered intended for any other application except the specific one listed in their application guide. Beyond that then it is a matter to find out all the specification for example extended and collapsed lengths. compression lbs per inch, normal dampener neutral compression position, spring rates at different compression, installed and max safe compression etc., etc., etc. Other wise just because it will mount does not in any means it will work as designed just because a DIY finds it will fit as a bolt on!.

As a seller your responsibility should be to answer "I don't know" and let the buyer find out for themselves.
