Engine swapping a 2.3l for a 2.0
Hey all,
Recently my car threw a rod and needs a new engine. (Only had the car for 6months, previous owner obviously abused it) I'm in a bit of a financial pinch.
I know the 2.0l used the same block as the 2.3l engine. But are they a direct swap? Obviously I would have to change the fuel injectors and ECU, but would their be any other issues, and would it work? I have a 2004 mazda 3s 2.3l 5speed manual, the engine I would be putting in is a 2005 2.0l with 50k miles also a manual. My VIN number is L, the 2.0 number is F.
Any help is appreciated, only reason I ask is because the 2.0 is about 1200$ less expensive then the 2.3l and I don't really care about power, I just need a car...
I contacted Mazda, they refuse to answer the question, as well as the Mazda Dealerships refuse to answer it. Any help is appreciated.
