Engine replaced, wont run...
Hi all,
I have a 2012 Mazda 3 that burned up a motor (whole other story about adding oil when you should
). Anyway, I pulled it out and found a donor out of a 2013. installed and when we tried to start it, it will start but wont idle or stay running without staying on the gas. Even then it is very rough running. Both engines are Skyactiv. The donor car was an automatic trans and it went into my manual (if this even matters).
My 3 has engine code "8" in the VIN
The donor had an engine code "7" in the VIN
I was told, and from what I can tell, these engines are compatible but something isnt right.
The sensors were transferred from the dead engine to the new.
I took it to a shop, where it was throwing P0101 for MAF but they said looks like a bad PCM and recommended it go to the dealer. So off it went and they aren't sure what the issue is yet, but feel they may say wrong engine.
Hope someone has been down this road and can point the way or give some advice.
