Emblem Painting
Im trying to paint my emblems black. The Mazda logo on the back and the mazda wording. My dad said I should sand paper it down then primer it then paint it black. Any other ideas about how to do it or which way works better?
You have to strip the chrome plating in order for it to work properly. But then you're also in it for the long haul too.
Soak them in a bleach bath for several days. This will remove most of the chrome. Sandpaper will only give you a rough textured finish in the end.
All are clip-in, pinned-in or glued (taped) on.
Front grille- 4 clips that need to be depressed simultaneously
Side 2.3 emblems, rear "3" emblem aretaped on
Rear "Mazda"and "wing" emblem are pinned and taped in.
I use krylon for plastics. had mine painted black for a few years and that is what I used. I bleached them for a few days, changing out the bleach as it got depleted. then, I just chipped away at the remaining chrome. then, scuffed them with scotch brite before I painted.
