Here is a question. I don't think it's a problem, though.

Does every one else's digital odometer stay on after the car is off. Can't believe I've had this car for a few months and never noticed this before.

 

it stays lit after you take key out, or when you just turn the engine off with the in the ACC position?

 

it shuts off after a few minutes...mine does as well...

 

Mine stays on, however the backlight is off when the car is. During the day if you shine a light on the face of the odo. then you can see the numbers.

You have an "i" (gx) model with the white gauges,right?
That's the difference right there. The electroluminescent gauge cluster doesnt work the same. It goes out instantly. It's actually kind of annoying to me when I'm at the gas station checking my mileage to have to turn the key to on long before I'm ready to leave.

 

lol well it turns out when i open my door it turns on. and stays on for like 20 seconds or so then goes off.

 

Please see the manual page5-34, I have the 3i sedan, so it's "standard meter":

1) odo displays for 10 minutes when ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or LOCK
2) displays for 10 minutes when driver's door is opened
