Differences in Latin Models...Ipod issue
Hi!
My New Mazda 3s is due delivery tomorrow, supposedly it is a 2008 model. But I noticed it does not have an Aux In on the center console, do they make a diferent model for latin american countries( Central America)? JM7BK226Z81379195 thats the VIN number...How can i tell if it is compatible with one of those Ipode modules available on the net?

I looked on the Venezuelan web site but I could not translate all of the console contents into English (sorry my Spanish is limited), where in Latin America are you at?

IĀ“m in Honduras... The guys at the dealership told me that yeah, I can put the ipod somehow, but they did not tell me how. I figured it was a 1/8 connector in the back of the main panel so I went and gave the cable to them. But they just said that the cable didnĀ“t fit...I need more details and the dealership is not helping...Do you think all of those factory radios have the Pin connector in the back?

From what I've seen all of the ipod adapters are compatible with all countries' HUs. Like others said the US models started coming standard with the 3.5mm input in 2007, but I can't say what countries have it what don't.
There are lots of options for getting your ipod signal into the stereo ranging from a simple input (all control from the ipod) to full integration (ipod charges and is controlled from the stereo).
I wouldn't suggest going with the OEM mazda adapter as (from what people have said) it's very cumbersome to use. The newest one out is the DICE module which will display text info. on the LCD (HU must have the "SAT" button as it emulates a satellite radio). Check out the audio input thread in my sig. for details.
