Question car has a mystery battery drain

went to start it and it took about 5-6 turns of the key before it started. started fine this morning and after a visit to the local auto parts they tested everything and came to one conclusions that there is a small drain that is killing the battery. the car is stock no mods at ALL. ive been looking around the forums, im new to the mazda forums. please help.

one question. where the mileage is shown, is the mileage always showing or only shows when the car is in the acc. position or the car is on?

Mileage only shows when the key is on.

The odometer is always on, however the backlight is only on when the key is in ACC or further.

Ummmm, do you happen to have a 3i with the white-faced gauges?
Then, I believe the Odo is always visible. It's an LCD display and consumes very little power.

Do you have a trunk or Hatch, the hatch light can be turned to stay on all the time and can do a slow drain, also check your interior lights.

I do! Lemme check mine and see if it does.

EDIT: Yes my odometer stays on full time. And the blue LEDs light up the gauges for about 10-15 seconds after the last door is shut. Course LEDs are also super super low power consumption too.

i checked EVERYTHING!! turned off all the int. lights and even folded down the seats and then closed the trunk to see if the light stays on. i've read a few places about the junction box to even the stock radio causing a problem. my girl drives this car on the regular so that should tell you what kinda details i get...hahaha im just going off what i know and think is the problem. first thing first is replace the stock battery and make sure the terminals are tight but i need to find what could be draining the battery. i know a few things stay on but only draw milli amps not enough to drain a battery.

another question: do ya'll a section where people post all the DIY?

Time to start pulling fuses and relays (one at a time of course,) and see what happens then.

Not really, no. The Mods here have a fair amount of power on this site, more than most including the other site I mod for, but we do not have the ability to create new sections, or even delete old ones that are going nowhere... The Ride of the Month section comes to mind.

Most things have been discussed at one time or another though. If you use the site search function, or even Google your question you are likely to find an answer already.
We do come up under the Google search engine.
