Default Burning Smell, Clutch

So I was on my way to work today, I pull up to the parking garage. Trafic was backed up leading into it, so I was stuck on this very steep ramp leading into the garage. Some genius in a Prius decides to pull up literally inches from my back bumper. I try to make it up the ramp without rolling backwards but stall. The Prius gets the idea and backs up a little bit. I then start the car and give it way to much throttle jumping up to 5500-6000 rpms with the clutch almost all the way in. I quickly let off the gas but notice a burning smell. I'm sure it's the clutch. Should I be concerned about this at all? The smell dissipated after about 1 minute. I am usually fine at taking ramps but given the situation I was both a bit pissed and anxious to get moving. Thanks for any help.

if this was your first time "burning" the clutch on your car, i wouldnt worry about it...

i rode the clutch once in second gear for a few seconds, by accident, and it smelt like ***, and it didnt help that i had my heating on, so it just blew that **** smell into my car...

but its months later, after a handful of dropping the clutch, peeling out, etc, and my clutch still works perfectly fine....
but then again, i am noticing that im shifting way smoother now, and the car doesnt jerk at all now when i shift....

Yeah, definetely the first time burning the clutch on the car. I will check at lunch to see if it still smells though. It was bad enough with the windows up, I can only imagine it with the heater on.

Those are the times when I wish I had a sign in the back window that read "I drive stick...get off my *** or I will roll into you!"

Exactly. I even rolled back a little on purpose at first hoping they'd get the hint, but no luck.

This was a long time ago... when bumper were still made of metal, but I actually drifted back (yeah, about 4"... all they gave me in the first place) and parked against someone's front bumper on a hill we were both stopped @.
They gave me no room and I was still new enough dealing with that situation that I did it on purpose. I hope they got the message and never did that to anyone again, but who knows? Ppl are really stupid sometimes.
Next time, try using the ole' eBrake trick: Pull up the eBrake while holding the button in and release it as the clutch is engaging. That trick helped me for a long time. I don't need to use it anymore though. Heel and toe is the best method, imo.

i had the same problem when i first driving stick about 8 months ago... now, i have no problems at all....
i havent stalled my car in ages, or jerked when shifting...
and now im fast enough that i can take my foot off the brake and onto the gas with the car only rolling back a few inches....
you just get used to your car after a while.....
