2008 cx-7 burning rubber smell
Less than a month ago got my new cx-7, and when I drove it off the dealership about 2 miles later a burning rubber smell inundated the cabin, thought it was the parking brake engaged, but nope!, Got the car from Napleton Mazda-Schaumburg, when we got home, in Chicago, and exited the vehicle, the smell surrounded the car, Called the dealership and they told me it's from some coating they apply in Japan to protect the vehicle from the weather, Told a couple of friend about said report and they think it's B S. It's my second mazda, the first one was a Mazda-e, and smell brand new, unlike the CX-7, so what is wrong with my new toy ?

Take it back to the dealer & have them inspect the car for oil leaks. you just purchased a 20-30k vehicle from them the least they can do is inspect your car for leaks. don't deal with the sales dept. call the service dept & make an appt. immediately. you car could just be leaking oil & you could not know it because there is a undercover below the engine that could mask the leak if there is one.
