Default Brakes

i have a 05 mazda3 s 5dr with 3200 miles. Since i got the car when the car is cold the brakes squeek. once its warmed up they do not squeek. When i got my first oil change they looked at them and they said them seem fine by the time i got to the dealership my car was warm. Has anyone else had this problem, or know what the heck is going on?

my brakes squeek a lot when its cold out, but the brakes are wearing very nicely and work perfectly fine (over 30,000 miles on the car in one year / eleven months). i wouldnt worry too much about it, just seems like a normal noise.

There are a couple of updated parts available for noises from front and rear brake noises.

Front brake squeak when cold can be fixed by installing updated brake pads on the 2.0l and updated pads and caliper supports on the 2.3l engine. Bulletin only applies to vehicle built before October 1, 2004 for updated pads and produced before December 17, 2003 for the updated mounts. Vehicle build after those dates already have the updated parts installed from factory. You can fiind the build dated on the drivers door b-pillar on a sticker. Warranty time for this repair has been extended from 12mo/12k miles to 48 mo/50k miles.

Rear brake squeak/grind noise applies to all 2004 and 2005 3's. Noise will occur as you are coming to a stop either in forward or reverse. Updated pads available for this but looks to still only be covered for 12mo/ 12k miles.

You got it.

If you need a TSB# to give them a push in the right direction then have them review TSB 04-001/05 for the front brake concern and TSB 04-003/05 for the rear brake issue.

Could be the actual build date and if so the updates would not apply as they are already installed on the vehicle. If you are unsure the dealer should be able to determine the actual build date by running a VIN status inquiry. Can run one for you if you would prefer. PM with the 17 digit VIN if you want me to run a check

I have the 05 Rally White S Sedan, and my brakes did it in the beginning, but nothing is wrong! Mine went away....Hopefully, yours will too. I now have 10,700 on mine. I purchased it on June 07, 2005. Enjoy it! They are fine......I love my M3.
