Default Auto VS 5-Speed times

Good Morning, I'm making my decision today to buy a Mazda 3 5 door. sadly I'm trading in my 04 STI, but with Gas at $2.97 per gallon for Super unlead I'll need to take out a 2nd mortgage just to make it through this summer.

anyway, my wife really wants me to buy an auto, I'm a manual kinda guy, so being the kind husband I am willing to bend a little IF the performance is Close.

so.... I have read everything from 0-60 times for the 5 speed at 6.96-9 seconds for the 5 door, I guess I'll keep is safe at around 7.7ish for the 5 -speed.

how about the Auto? in the 5 door I cannot find 0-60 times for the 5 door auto any where out there.
so does anyone have that info?

Miller

This question was discussed earlier, hope it helps https://www.mazdaforum.com/m_11250/tm.htm , as of my opinion, manual has an advatage in mileage than auto, but the time is pretty much very close with either or.

thank you, I did not see where any of the magazine reviews were referencing to the 2.3 Auto in their 0-60 time. but from what I gather the difference in minimal, most butts cannot tell the difference

with any manual car will always have the advantage in gas milage and performence not only that but its cheaper, the only reason to get a auto is of you are either forced to get one or you dont feel like constantly shifting and downshifting in heavy traffic, i have an auto but i would gladly trade it in for a 5-speed if i already did not have an exhasut system on it (too lazy to take it out) and if it wasent a gift from my parents.
