I do not have a conversion kit. IMO, if you're going to post instructions on how to do an install on a Mazda 3 forum, you should spend the time to post the Mazda 3 instructions.

Then why are you in the Mazda 3 section? I'm sorry but, that just doesn't make sense to me.
There is an issue with putting them in on these cars. Hopefully you will address that.

Why exactly does the HID system require a special ballast?

I think you miss understood us, what was said was we currently does not have a Mazda 3 in our shop to take full step by step installation guide. We will certainly take a full setup installation when there is a chance to do so.

Now as to your question, what sort of issue are you running in to? Can you elaborate? So we can assist you further.

The HID system will require a ballast to power HID bulb since it is a gas bulb.

It requires a consistent power flow and converting from DC to AC power.

HID's are a different technology from standard halogen lamps with filaments. Instead of a filament they simply arc electricity between two electrodes in a gas filled enclosure. This is similar to the way fluorescent lights work. The ballast gives the extra jump of power needed to start the process and then afterwards keeps it running. Lots of info. on danielsternlighting about the technology.
