Answer this question FAST please
I am about to leave my house in the next couple hours and will get my windows tinted my interior is tan so it is bright as hell in the car should I do 15% all around except for wiendshield or 20% limo tint all around and what brands should i ask for that don't turn purple. MY altima interior is black so i went with 20% on there but im thinking if i go 20 on the mazda it will look light hence the interior being bright.. Car is white by the way.
I thought 5% was "limo tint", as in only 5% of light gets transmitted through. Am I wrong??? I just had my car tinted yesterday with 30% all around, but my interior is black and the exterior is silver, so it looks pretty dark. 15%is pretty damn dark, I wouldn't go below that.
im not sure what limo tint actually is im confused on the same note since i see 20% tint sheets labeled as Limo tint then you have 5% tints labled as limo tint as well but 15% would be like 20% according to me since the interior is camel color/tan. with 15% tint would I be able to still recognize what car is behind me in my rear view mirror or will it be too dark...I have excellent car recognition...can spot a cop from far away will i still be able to tell with my tints being 15% all around.
If you're trying to hide more of the inside then 15% would definitely do the job. 5% is limo tint I'm almost certain, being that only 5% of the light gets throughso it's blacker than black. I'm sure 15% technically could BE limo tint, but in the shop I was in yesterday the 5% was marked "Limo". Remember, 15% might look great outside but at night time you're gonna take a visibility hit.
My best advice would be to talk with the tint guys....owner if he's there, if not, the most experienced installer. They can helpmake recommendations based on your cars look and what you're going after. What kind of tint are you getting? Brand I mean?
Also in most states and provinces, less than 25% will be illegal. In the upper New England states, 50% is the only legal tint. Check your states DOT site, carefully before deciding.
I base this on what others haveposted on this and other forums I am a memberof.
Here in Texas we have two sets of laws. Inspection states that the front windows must allow 20% or more light. That's their only rule.
The "Driving laws" the ones the cops go by state thatANY passenger window cannot be tinted toless than 25%, though the rear can be tinted up to 5% as long as you have both a left and a right outside mirror installed on the vehicle.
Dumb, huh?
And yes, I was always under the impression that 5% was considered limo tint too.
Yeah check your laws...forgot to mention that! Nothing would be worse than having to pay a fine or being harassed by police over stupid window tinting. I guess you can't blame them...you could have a gun up to the window with 15% and they probably wouldn't be able to see it!
Here in Oregon all windows must allow 35% light in, with reflectivity no more than 13%. I guess technically my 30% is illegal then??? I didn't realize this until just now, but I'm not caring much either! If they can prove a 5% difference, more luck to em!

I live out here in florida...cops don't bother you unless you are doing something stupid or they smell a little something[:-] comming from your car...i really don't know what brand I will be getting, i will be spending no more than 100% on it and will get it done at the swap shop since i know some people out there that can throw me such a good deal, but then again i have a risk of getting some dollar store tint that will turn purple in like 2 months. prob will be aiming for 3M or llumar. I do not want to loose visibility..if that is the case should i just go with 20% all around
Surly you don't mean
?In Florida you should be able to get away w/more than the northern states, but even I was pulled over for my rear tint...
... and they CAN prove it, Siz. They have a pass-through light meter that will clip around the windowe and test it on the spot. That's what they did to me.
The stupid thing is, that we were on a trip out of state (leaving Texas) and had so much **** in the hatch area, I couldn't see anything behind me anyway!!They let me off w/a warning, but it coulda' been a $150 fine.
Wow, FL laws allow 15% basically. Just looked it up. Technically the front sides have to be 28%, everything else 15%. Better than Oregon! But I guess you do have more of that orange burning orb in the sky....I forget what it's called...? Oh yeah, the SUN.
