Air conditioning mod?

Air conditioning mod?
Has anyone figured out how to prevent the A/C from coming on automatically with the selector on "floor only?" I'm hoping for a better solution than yanking a fuse or unplugging a wire until spring.
What were they thinking??

http://www.mazda3forums.comYou will find instructions on how to carry out a mod that will give you full control of the A/C regardless of the vent position. I did it and it works fine, now I can turn off the A/C even with the vent control on the windshield setting. I wish you luck on it. If you have difficulty finding the subject let me know I kept the link in my favorites.

I'd appreciate that link, mon ami. I registered and spent half an hour searching with no success. Thanks.
edit: I did find a thread about pulling the compressor fuse. That's not an acceptable solution. I want the A/C to respond to the A/C button and nothing else. After >40 years of driving, I'm fully capable of deciding when I need air conditioning. Hell, most of my cars didn't have it at all, and somehow I'm still alive. I bought a car, not a nanny.
