Default 2014 Mazda 3 Headlight Issues. Please help.

My 2 months old Mazda 3 has an unlevel set of headlights. The passenger side projects a slightly higher beam and thus reaches about 1-1.5 meters farther than the left one. I can definitely see the 3 step stairs when the car faces the wall projecting the beam straight against.

It is not something critical but it bothers me every time I drive because it is a new car. I took it to the service at the dealership and to my surprises, the technician tells me that that's how the car is designed so that you can see the far sights and near sights at the same time. I am very sure that it is a BS. I have never heard anything like that.

Any of you 2014 Mazda 3 owners out there, can you tell me how your headlight beams look? Or does anyone know how to adjust the level of the headlights?

I am never going to my dealership for services anymore because I even addressed the loosely fastened backseat issues as it rattles at times and they did not want to help on it either.

Please let me know.

The left side beam should be a little lower than the right beam, in my opinion, so it doesn't blind the driver coming at you from the other direction!
Here's a view from my 2006 Mazda 6 new headlight assemblies with HiD:

Default So, it is true then...

Wow, that is really something to know about! So, it is true that the new cars are designed that way. Mine looks more like 3 step stairs, but yes, the driver side is lower.

I really appreciate your prompt reply UseYourNoggin.

Can anyone else confirm on this one?

Mine was set this way too. I couldn't stand it. I adjusted the left one with the adjusting screw to the same level as the right and it's much better now. I haven't had people flash me so it doesn't seem to blind anybody.

Thank you husker for the reply.

How do I adjust the level? Do I need to disassemble the light unit? Please give me some tips on how I can match the level of my lights.

Thanks in advance.

Look directly down from the metal brace at the back of the headlight. The adjusting screw has a white nylon head and there are metal "teeth" with it. You can adjust the headlight by putting a flat head screw driver in these teeth and rotating the screwdriver to move the screw or the nylon part takes a 10 mm wrench. I used a wrench because I was worried about breaking these teeth. It would be nice to use a socket, but there isn't enough space to get that in there. You rotate the screw counterclockwise to raise the headlight up.

Thanks for the great tips husker. Yeah, I talked to the service manager at the dealership and he won't adjust the beam height for me.

I will try the way you told me.

Thank you again for your great help everyone who replied.
