Default 2011 Mazda 3i Sport 4dr Sedan timing belt or chain?

Hi, recently bought the 2011 Mazda 3i sport. Can anyone tell me if it has a timing chain or belt? Thanks

I don't know for sure. But here is an idea: go to the website of a parts store and search for either one.

I'd imagine it's a chain. All of the 1st gen 2.0 and 2.3L motors were chains. The 2nd gen 2.0 and 2.5 motors were only slightly varied from the 1st gen.

Thanks for your responses. I think it's a chain, but just want to be sure before anything drastic happens.

Is your car petrol or diesel powered?

Petrol = Chain
Diesel = Belt
