Default 2009 Mazda3 w/75k

hi guys. I’m looking at a 2009 Mazda3 with 77k on it. I have a few questions. It looks well maintained. Is 6k high for it? Is this a first or second gen 3? And what typically goes wrong on these vehicles?

The 2009 was the last year of the first gen cars. The biggest issues with the Gen 1 was the power steering, which was recalled and should have long since been fixed. Then there is the issue of the 2.3 liter engines in the "s" models; some make it 200,000 miles, others to tango uniform in only 80,000. The 2.0 liter cars in the "i" models seems to be pretty reliable in the long run.

As for price, yes, $6,000 sounds high, I should think more like $4,500.

Everything I can find says the 2009 was only made with a 2.3. So I should just avoid this engine I guess.

Incorrect, I owned a 2009 Mazda3 i True Value Edition and there was also a Mazda3 i Sport from that year; all "i" models had the 2.0 engine.
