2009 Mazda3 2.2 diesel power steering pump

2009 Mazda3 2.2 diesel power steering pump
Hi,
I have a suspected power steering pump fail on the electrics, but diognostics from my local garage can't pin point it so rather than paying for a diognostics report from Mazda (£78.00+vat) I think the cheapest way is to replace the whole unit with a second hand one.
The price for a pump for mine is around £180 but I can get a 1.6 diesel or a 2.0 petrol for £60, so are all power steering pumps for a 2009 car generic inc petrol versions? Because they look the same.
