My wonderful 2007 Axcela (Japanese import to New Zealand version of the Mazda 3 SP23) is in need of a new battery and my intention at this stage is to buy one and replace it myself.
Is there anything I should be aware of, such as the requirement for codes to get the stereo (awesome factory bose audio system) going afterwards or any special reset things needed for the proximity keys, etc.
Generally, is there anything I can't do at home that would mean I should go to a dealer instead?

Kia Ora.

No stereo code, you will need to reset/retune radio pre-sets.
Keys & remotes wont be affected.
Auto window up & down will need resetting.
Clock will need resetting.

Be careful, take your time, make sure its the right battery & don't hook it up backwards.

 

Thanks for the advice. In case anyone else searches for this I thought I would pop a note in. It was a simple swap out, big battery for a small car, so that's the only thing to check.
Everything worked afterwards as expected, and like the earlier note said I just need to reset the clock / stereo presets and power windows auto up. It will probably be several months before I get around to doing that.

Next up, oil and oil filter change.....if I can find the filter under one of the plastic covers.

Why will it take you months to do that?

 

Cause I'm too lazy to bother fixing the clock, given I have to change it for daylight savings again soon, and then again about 6 months later....if I just leave it wrong it never matters.

The truth is I have already fixed it....I tried leaving it wrong but it bugged me more than the idea of fixing it.
