ORIGINAL: sstlaure

4 year - 50,000 mile warranty is std on US Mazda's
That's what I get for having an extended warranty.... I don't know what the regular one is. The warranty changed for '06 or '07 didn't it?

Warranty changed A LOT for 2007 MY. 2003-2006 had basic and powertrainwarranty of 4 year / 50,000 miles. 2007 increased the powertrain warranty to 5 year / 60,000 miles but basic warranty dropped way down to 3 year / 36,000 miles.

I had similar symptoms with my 2004 Mazda3 GT sedan. Had the oil changed (was due)...had them tighten the filter cartridge and nothing changed...same drip, drip. I took it to the local Mazda dealer, they told me that the oil filter housing had worn out ($145 - crooks!!). You might want to get a second opinion from Mazda. Get it checked out - it may save you a couple grand! (And no I'm not a Mazda dealer, employee or exec....I'm actually looking at the Merc C300 in a few months!)
