0 - 60 time question/opinion

question guys, ive never attemted to beat the piss out of my car to get a 0 to 60 time... I was lookin at edmunds, for the 2005 2.3l acceleration to 60 and it said a horrendous 9.73 seconds...is this a typo? i havent "gunned" my car, but i still dont think my car is that slow. 2750 lbs...160 hp...150 tq... that doesnt add up.

I also have the atx '06 3i, and it does feel much faster than almost 10 seconds, first gear actually will redline at about 45mph, then drop to second, that can go to 80mph, 3rd gear can get to 118mph, and then 4th gear on up, although the rev limiter cust you off at 118mph and 7000rpm. I have never taken my car to a track but i am thinking, if you get on it right you should be about 6-7 seonds. and krimsonviper, i see you had a couple of 240sx before, my friend has an '89 S13 240sx 5spd N/A, and I can keep up with him in my stock 3, were your 240's modded in anyway?

Did some checking and the results are as follows:

AutoWeek Magazine - 2004 Mazda 3 5-door 0-60 mph in 7.97 seconds (4/05/04)
http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl...=7323802934927

Road & Track Magazine - 2006 Mazda 3 5-door 0-60 mph in 8.0 seconds (10/05)
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=2

Car & Driver Magazine - 2004 Mazda 3 5-door 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds (1/04)
http://www.caranddriver.com/article....rticle_id=7566

Motor Trend Magazine - 2005 Mazda 3 s 5-door 0-60 mph in 7.7 seconds (4/05)
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...zda3_s_5_door/

I included the links of each article - if you would like to read it. Apparently the '06 is the slowest of all - not sure which model year is tested but it's from their "What's new for '06"...

RE: 0 - 60 time question/opinion

yeah the 7 second range seem about right, my 2.3 Mazda 6 goes 0-60 in about 7.5 seconds. So the 3 has to be slightly faster.

those are all the hatchback models, with 2.3L engines, none of them was the sedan w/2.0L. I would say the 2.0L 3i and 2.3L 3s Hatchback are comparable because of the weight difference between the two cars.
