Changing the battery in my UK version of the Mazda 2 Ts2, 2009 the brittle "barb" in the top half of the remote key fob broke off. Now I need sellotape to keep the two halves of the key-fob from falling apart. The key remote is a Siemens VDO 5wk43450e. The two key fob SHELLS I've seen on eBay and Amazon are different to mine as none have the white flexible "polythene" type PCB holder in the bottom half of the remote. This type of PCB holder seems important because its edge tabs or nodules, ringed in red, hold the PCB flat and secure so that the key reassembles. So I'm looking for either (1) the top part of the key 5wk43450e fob only, so I can put a replacement top key part together with the fully working bottom part I have or (2) a complete new shell so I can transfer the existing PCB and transponder to it. Any tips on where to get a suitable shell would be appreciated. I'd rather not pay £360+ for a new key from a main dealer.
I can't seem to find JUST THE SHELL for me 2013 Mazda 2 anywhere. Do they even sell one? About to go to my local locksmith and ask him. but he doesn't open till tomorrow.
I wonder if one of those "universal" shells would work...
Hi Kevin, may I ask how you got on with this? I have the same problem. (However I've just screwed my key by trying to get the transponder out so now think I need to buy a transponder and a blank and buy a reprogramming tool). Andy
