Default mazda 2 sport antenna - removal from inside

anyone have any info ( youtube, personal info) on how to remove the antenna from the inside. Ive removed the dome light and see the connection. what size is that screw, attached to antenna wire, is it a screw or snap on ? antenna mast broke off, tip still inside (2011 mazda 2 sport)

I've had success drilling out the snapped thread before.

Not sure if the sport model is the same but on my 1.3 base model, to remove the aerial I took out the interior light and the base of the aerial was held on by a nut which iirc is 8 or 10 mm. Undid that nut and the base came free from the roof, the internal aerial cable which goes from the base to the back of the radio was sandwiched inbetween the nut with a ring terminal. I bought a generic one off ebay that looked similar and its been fine I would have preferred OEM but they seemed to cost too much and I could not find one used anywhere.

were you able to get your hand in the dome light area to remove the screw, or use a long tool. your setup seems to be the same as mine, good to know its either 8/10mm, tks very much for your experience.

Yeah I just used a small 1/4 inch socket set, I also pulled the roof liner down a bit. It's a little bit tricky but not too hard. Think I needed to use a deep socket too because the thread the nut goes on is quite long.

It may not be an option for you, but when I snapped mine off (being stupid), I cleaned out the hole, cut the antenna shaft down to about 10 inches, and reinserted it with a tad of super glue. Looks a lot better and I still have reception when I need it. Good luck.
