Failed transmission dipstick tube Mazda 2 DE Neo sport auto.
At my last service the technicians detected a slow leak from the trans dipstick tube and said that it needed a new O ring.
When I returned to have the O ring installed they told me that the issue was the dipstick tube was worn through and leaking and that a new one had to imported form Japan and would take a few weeks and would cost $242.
I went to the local auto wrecker (junk yard) and found one and am about to exchange it when I can purchase a new O ring.
Two things, Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it. Secondly, the O ring on the wrecker supplied tube needs replacing (it is flat on the outside surface). Can I replace it with a standard O ring or do I need to use some sort of upgraded ring compound like Viton to guard against reaction/ decay from transmission oil?.
