Question Boot light

Hi Everyone

Just inherited my partners 2008 Mazda 2 (Green ) after passing my test 5 few weeks ago.

I have managed to replace the old halogen bulbs with led in the overhead lights as they was very dull.

Apparently the boot light hasn't worked for a long time and i replaced the bulb with no joy, The dash shows that the boot door is open when its open so I am assuming it could be a faulty switch where the bulb goes ? Is there a way i can test to see if its getting power to the bulb holder ?

I'm looking for advice on fixing it

Default Led bulb

You could use a multimeter to see if there is any power getting to it . Check fuses to see if any have blown? Have you put it in the correct way ? Led bulbs won't work if they are the wrong polarity. Also have you tried the switch on it ?

Hi Martin 😊

Thanks for your reply...I have replaced the lights above the passengers to led and they work great, so much brighter 😊

I have tried the old ones in the boot light to no joy, the same with the new led ones.

Question time 😂

I would assume the lights bulbs above the passenger would have been the same in the boot ?

I have looked and as far as I can tell there isn't a fuse for the boot light ?

When I get to work tomorrw I try a multimeter as you suggest 😊

I tested with a meter reader and looks like no power is going to the bulb

Firstly check the fuses by the passenger door also check the ones under the bonnet

Thanks Martin for getting back to me 😊

Sorry for the questions 😁

If the front above interior lights work, I would assume the issue isn't a fuse ? Or is the fuse different for the boot and the front.

Did you check the actual connector by unplugging it to make sure the actual leads (wire are not getting power. You will likely also need to use the probes on your Digital volt/ohm meter and check a couple inches down from the connector itself. If there is not power, then you will need to do the pain staking tracing all the way back to the connector harness where is branches off the power to the other mentioned light. or just do the easy fix and splice into the harness where is joins and run new leads to the light.

It turns out the light isn't getting any power to it.

Ok well unless you want to spend endless hours tracking the power disconnect just run a new power wire to the light?
