Default bonnet catch

Hey guys

Wondering if anyone can help.

Have run an utterly unburstable Mazda 2 Capella for 5 years now, thing is utterly brilliant as a runabout passes MOT every year never breaks down, parts are cheap, just can't get rid of it! It is a 2005 1.6 Capella.

But wanted to fill washer bottle and noticed bonnet flap is not pulling anything much. Have tried pushing down bonnet, pulling lever, WD in places and nothing, can't see a cable anywhere but might be hidden or just as it's in an awkward spot to see.

Have tried having a look, but it's in a pretty awkward place, can I do anything from the front? Or is it best to try and prise out the bonnet catch lever inside and progress from there?

Would anyone know how to do this or offer some simple instructions?

Capella was the JDM version of the old 626. You definitely have a 2005 Mazda 2?

Yes it is a 1600 Mazda 2 Capella.

2005 plate. 5 door, so it says on V5

Must be a Euro only model.
