I need to replace the oil pan on my Mazda2. I cant find a reliable source of information about it. Precisely I need to know what needs to be installed as some king of seal between the oil pan itself and the engine. I read sometimes its some kind of paper, sometimes some weird glue, sorry Im from Quebec so not very good in english, so Im not sure how its called.
I already ordered an oil pan but Im just missing that "seal" that will make it tight.

For those who are wondering it was busted up for a long time but didnt leak so I was postponing that repair. But I just bought a new car and I wanna at least make the mazda2 drivable so I can sell it. Beside the oil pan its ok for a car that did 250000km.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if the Mazda 2 uses a gasket or just some type of sealant. You will have to search this yourself. Either should be fine though.

 

RTV sealant would be good for it.

 

Automotive grade silicon sealer.

 

You are correct, I crawled under the car this weekend to see and do what I can and after removing all the knots I saw that it was indeed some kind of goo making the fit. Wouldnt budge at all. I think I need that tool we see at the 3min07 mark:


I received the new oil pan last friday. Im gonna buy a silicon sealer like you recommended. I guess I can find that and the tool to pry the thing open and release the oil pan on amazon.ca (im from canada)
Im having fun learning to do these things myself but I got a lot to learn Im just starting so bare with me if my questions seems noobish lol
