I rounded a corner yesterday, and my back wheel ran over this. It fell off of my 2003 Tribute 4 cyl 5 speed manual. Lettering on it is CIP, below it 8-1A. Google search shows Ford F-150 part looks nothing like it. Assuming there's on on each side, I crawled under to find it, with no luck. Any ideas? That thick round thing is solid metal, and heavy.
It looks like part of a Ford spring shackle. They are bad about rusting apart. It may not be from your car, you may just have not noticed it until you ran over it. On the other hand, Ford was part owner of Mazda when you car was built.
