Default Vacuum issue for climate control selection 2002 Mazda tribute

I’m struggling to find a diagram or info about the vacuum system for climate control vent selection, I see one vacuum line that comes in through the fire wall on passenger side behind the glove box(it’s black). Then goes into a distribution block that send it all kinda places.

I pulled the climate control ***** out to check and it’s just a bunch of vacuum hoses that go to the selector for vent mode( where the air goes). So I went under and all the Controll associated with vacuum do not work.

im assuming it’s just not getting proper vacuum but I can find any good info on how to test it. Maybe just get my house vacuum and try to create suction on the one black line that goes through the firewall?

I have no engine codes so I’m guessing the regular vacuum system on the engine is ok. I just done know where to go to find info and I searched a bunch of different ways on this forum and others and now one has info out there. I’m going to pull the black vacuum hose off the fire wall and see if it’s getting suction from the engine side.

any experience or guaindance is appropriated

I had a similar problem and the cause was a large vacuum leak. I found it by attaching a smoke machine to the line going into the large vacuum reservoir under the hood and looking for where smoke was coming from (and then repairing the line).

thank you for the idea, I don’t have a smoke machine but I can figure somthing out , it seems like a vacuum leak of some sort , I just don’t really know how to track it down.

Most people just use starter fluid and when it is ingested into the system (where your leak is), the engine rpm will change.

I bought the smoke machine to detect a leak in my evap system and it was something like $60-70 on Amazon.
