Default Rear exhaust manifold (right slide)

So-

here's a horror story. Just had a new rear exhaust manifold put it, $1600 later. my trib is a 2002 V6 w/4WD. Turns out, the entire nation is sold out of these things. They are backordered through Novemeber through ford or mazda.

what the crap is up with this? Is this issue that common?? If so, why hasn't there been a recall on this? I have 100,000 miles on the tribute and would never expect something like this.

I took a look at my old one and it seems to have warped some of the piping. theress a good 4 inch hold near some of the wielding that opened up from the warping. It also broke 2 bolts.

I knew something was wrong because it sounded like i was driving some nice muscle car from the 70's.

my mechanic was able to find an aftermarket manifold from someone in canada who got it from someone else.... he said it is shaped a bit differently. instead of the 3 pipes, they are all connected as one. and on the back side of the manifold, the main tube is smaller in diameter than the stock one. It seems to be working but my only concern is now you can hear the sound of hissing when i accelerate a bit.. i'm guessing the sound is like this since the new pipe is smaller in diameter, forcing the air through and creating the sound. I hope this isn't laboring the exhaust system or possibly back feeding in or something. any thoughts on this issue?

How many other people have gone thorugh this? I find it extremely hard to believe how these are sold out nation wide and backordered through the end of the year?? recall?
