Default oil pan leak thing - Have you been there and done that ?

Have an 02 Trib that I LOVE!!! However, it has the common oil leak at the pan/gasket. I have heard there is a restyled pan and gasket, however, I want to simply replace the gasket with the original pan and gasket design. Is this hard? Are there parts blocking it that need removing? Step by step, what is required? Don't want to pay the dealership a lot if this is easy to do.

THANK YOU!!!

Default manual

If you pick up a Haynes or Chilton repair manual, the procedure will be outlined in there, complete with pictures.
These manuals are very handy for the DIY'er and well worth the ~ $25.
Good luck, Mark

I'm shocked to see so many with this issue. My 6cyc Mazda Tribute with 117k has been leaking for a while now, maybe 5k. its at a point now where I must fix it. the mechanic i spoke to today told me mazda designed the exhaust system so that if overlapped the oil pan and that it would have to be removed first at considerable expense. That didn't jibe with me so I told them I would get back with them. Glad I did because not one of you said anything about having to take off the exhaust to get access to the oil pan. where can I get diagrams?

thanks
