Oil leak and no charging

Hello everyone!

Let me describe my issue:
2010 Mazda Tribute 2,5l has lost oil. I noticed that by oil spots on the pavement. The serpentine belt side covered with oil. When I noticed this I decided to drive home (about 10 KM) and on half way ABS light blinked few times and power steering lost the power. Also there was not any more turn lights, Odometer indications, radio. I was able however to get to my parking lot but could not restart the engine after I parked and stopped it. So far I removed alternator and confirmed that its clean inside and all diodes are OK.
Any other idea about what to check/repair.

Thanks in advance

I’d guess the belt was slipping on both alt and power steering pump to give those symptoms. Fix the oil leak, clean the pulleys and replace the belt, then see if you still have a charging issue.

Simonsi, thanks for reply!
I actually reinstalled alternator and tried to start the engine. Everything is okay on this side (you are probably right about slipping).
The problem is to detect the leak. Is this crankshaft seal or front cover seal? All this side is covered with oil so it's really hard to tell where exactly it leaks.
Tomorrow I will add some oil into the engine and will try run it. Maybe this way I can find the source?..
Anyway I'll update.
Have a great weekend to everyone!

I would clean the engine, then run and try to see which gasket or join has failed taking into account the oil will only wet the engine below the level of the leak. If most of the end of the engine is oily then I’d suspect one or both rocker cover gaskets.

Okay.
Thank you for advice!

The job is half-done;) Only Harmonic balancer left to remove(screw is too rusted)
I paid a "Timing Cover" from a local Mazda dealer for 250CAD+tx. Picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Will play with it mostly on Saturday.
Just by curiosity the cost of replacement at dealer site is 1200CAD!!! :O CRAZY!!!
Thanks again for support!

Hi all.
Today I replaced Timing cover.
The biggest challenge was to remove Harmonic balancer bolt. After few tries with impact wrenches I made an additional tool and finally the bolt was "broken"!

Tomorrow morning I will fill the oil and will test it. ;)

Have a great Sunday to everyone!!!

Another update:
This morning the engine did not start:(
It cranks but there is no even intention to burn the gas. The battery was dead so I used jump starter. After few attempts something blown under manifolds and blue smoke has come out.
Yesterday I removed manifold and injectors line because I wanted to replace the hose that "causes" rough idle. The hose that I have bought from rockauto was wrong so I left everything as is on that side.
Could I accidentally move out the timing? or something else?
Any suggestions will be appreciated!!!
Tomorrow morning I'm going to search for a repair shop near by...:(

Thank you
