Default O2 Sensors Before Catalytic Converter?

Hello,

I will explain my situation. I have created a HHO generator for my 2003 V6 Mazda Tribute ES, and so far I have been having some issues. The actual generator works; the first design I placed in the car took my MPG from 19.9 to 24.1; however, the car began to compensate for the lean mixture and decreased it back down to 21.7 (still a decent gain nonetheless). My second design took the MPG from 21.7 to 29.6 (+36.4%!), but after the first fill-up it decreased to 24.2, then to 22.7. My goal is to locate the O2 sensors that affect this and either install O2 sensor enhancers or aluminum foil to counteract this process. I know that my car has a total of four sensors (2 in the front, and the other two I do not know exactly where they are at), and any help locating the necessary ones to alter would be appreciated.
