Latest development is the replaced engine is indeed a 2.0. This presents a problem with the ecm that expects signals from a 2.3. Mechanic suggested replacing the balancer and exhaust cam with parts from a 2.3 to trick the ecm. Perhaps there are other ideas floating around. I would sure like to hear some.

Anyone have a blown up 2.3 and would like to sell some parts?

 

I am surprised a 2.3ltr PCM would even run a 2.0ltr. I suggest fitting a PCM to match your engine. Who knows what else isn't running right having the wrong PCM.
