Mazda Clutch Broke Free

Mazda Clutch Broke Free
Hi,
I couldn't find this problempreviously posted.
Car:
2006 Mazda Tribute Manual Transmission.
Description of problem:
When shifting into 1st from neutral at a stop, gettting ready to pull away I felt a snap* give way at my clutch pedal and now my clutch pedal is hanging limp.
*The snap I felt could be described as similar to opening the hood of a car and the cable that runs to the hood snapping and giving way.
Other info:
- I was unable to start my car, but I can keep it in neutral and push it.
- I looked at the floorboard and found a piece of broken plastic that was tan colored. (This could have also just been a piece of junk)
- I found a button near where the clutch pedal would touch the floor board. I was able to depress that button and turn the car over, no problem.
- My fluids all looked fine.
So, it is finally a rainy day here in Saint Louis (it hasn't rained here for ages), but it is a Sunday and my regular mechanic is closed. Any knowledge anyone on here could spare would be greatly apopreciated!
Thanks!

The above is a link to the broken piece I found.
I also want to say that the clutch, though limp, can be depressed and it does return but without any resistance.
