Default IDLE SPEED??

I have a 2002 tribute that will not start from key start. If I "goose" the gas wile turning the key it starts but dies when I let upon the gas.
Once I get it started it runs fine as long as I keep pressure on the gas . The onlything I can tink of is the Idel is set to low. How do i adjust the Idel speed?

Default RE: IDLE SPEED??

The idle speed is not adjustable on the Tribute rwyer. It is preset from the factory and there are no adjustment screws to make any changes. Ignition timing is the same.
Odds are that the idle speed control valve is stuck closed. Is a somewhat common problem on both the Tribute and the MPV. While you have someone feathering the throttle to keep running, try giving the valve a light tap with screwdriver handle or small hammer. Most of the time will unstick ok for a while but will at least confirm the problem. Can try and get a pic of this valve and location if needed. Let me know.
Is the Trib a 4 cyliner or V6?
