Hello:

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute 5 Speed. Recently I have had trouble getting it into 2nd gear and reverse, all the other gears work just fine. I can still get the vehicle into 2nd gear and reverse, but its not easy, I have to push down hard on the gear shifter to get it into these gears..... I was just wondering if this is a problem with my transmission or something else?

 

If their is no grinding it is probably not syncros or dog teeth, it maybe your clutch system but it is hard to tell with out driving it.

 

If youwere having an equal amount of problem going into 4th gear then might suspect some shift lever problems. Is the shift into 4th gear feeling normal or is it a little abnormal ??

 

I have the same vehicle and i have problems with 2nd and 3rd sometimes. I just think that my truck is a piece of crap in general. I have had nothing but problems with it.

My 2nd and third gears vibrate really bad aswell.. has anyone had this problem?
