Default Electrical Draw

My grandson's 2004 Tribute has an electrical draw that runs the battery down after a few days. Local (only one here) was unable to find any problem? Yesterday grandson and I tested each fuse and relay by lifting the positive battery cable then using a test light between the cable end and the positive post.

The test light only went dim when the Main fuse (120 amp) in the Distribution Box was removed. The light did light up, but just a little bit. We did not trace the two wires that this fuse connects. Where do these wires go? Do you think this is the problem?

Thanks all for your thoughts - Dale

I'm not convinced that test tells you what you think it does (Test lights are good for confirming volts and ground, not for finding small current draws). Try this test - I KNOW this works:

Remove the battery ground, insert an ammeter between the earth cable and battery terminal. It should show the drain occurring.

Pull each fuse, when you pull the fuse covering the circuit with the drain, the draw showing on the ammeter will drop to <very> close to zero. Once the circuit is identified, trouble shoot from there.

It could be a bad regulator in the alternator. Remove the heavy red wire from the alt to the power box under the hood and see if the sneak draw stops. If it does, you'll need an alternator.
