Default dome light / alarm

my wife has a 05 tribute, i had a viper remote start/alarm installed for her (professionally) the installation was done in 2 visits. The remote start was installed before christmas, so i could give my wife the key fob at christmas and she wouldnt know it was installed until then. Then after christmas we went back to have the keyless entry installed and the antenna mounted etc. Anyways, everything seems to work fine except one thing. When we Lock/Arm the system, it goes off immediately because the dome light on this vehicle stays on for like 20 seconds or so after exiting the vehicle and shutting the doors. The alarm is looking for the dome light signal to determine if the door is open, so it assumes the door is open and sets off the alarm. Recently the remote start decided it would not crank the engine long enough to start so we set and appointment to get that looked at as well as have the sensitivity turned down. When the car was dropped off my wife also asked them to set a delay on the alarm so when she pushes the lock button, the alarm would not activate for however many seconds it takes for the dome light to turn off. The installers said this is not a possibility and the only option on this vehicle is to wait for the dome light to turn off then arm the system. Well i dont think it should be necessary for my wife to sit there for 25 seconds waiting for the dome light to turn off so she can arm her system. It is 2-way mile range remotes, so i mean she could walk to her work, and by the time she is there she could arm it most likely. Still this seems off to me. In the last 2 hours of googling every phrase and keyword i can think of, all i can find are people talking about their dome lights never shutting off etc. I stumbled across something called a "dome light delay module" or something like that. I have found someone saying (not sure what kind of car) that they were able to bypass it so that the dome light would just shut off when they closed the door which would be a perfect solution. my wife would be fine with either option, Having the dome light shut off soon as the doors are shut and turn the light on inside if she needs it, or having the alarm wait to activate the dome light/door sensor until the dome light is off or some variation of this. Does anyone here know where the dome light delay module would be, or have any ideas?

would be happy with basically any of these, as i think any one of these options would allow her to get out of her car, close the door, arm the system, and walk away. (as it should be)
1) add a time delay on the viper alarm (model 7756v) so it waits for a time, then arms, or waits for the dome light to turn off then arms
2) bypass the dome light delay module completely so the dome light just shuts off when the door shuts
3) change it so my alarm doesnt look at the dome light but instead looks at the actual door triggers? (installer said this vehicle can only look at the dome light? sounds bogus)
