dash lights and overdrive
Hi,
I just purchased a 2005 Tribute FWD V6 122K miles. Nice ride, I like it.
Here is my situation. I just discovered that it had an OD switch. I hit the button a few times and never noticed any difference in revs. Besides that, I tried every trick I know to get the tranny to shift improperly. Up steep hills heavy and light pedal, stomping, manual shifting 1,2 D. Works correctly AFAIK. My mechanic drove it and said it it shifts nice. I'm at about 1900 RPM at 60 mph which I figure is normal for a 4 spd in the OD mode. I read that the tranny always defaults to OD on startup. I did discover that some of my cluster light are out including the OD light and the temp gauge light but I can't notice any difference when I press the switch... Any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks!

I'd guess the OD switch isn't working, that would expalin the behaviour and the lack of OD light. The Coolant light is driven by the level sensor in the coolant tank AFAIK so if that is unplugged again no light on the dash at any time.
