Default cruise control

Just got Mama an 2008 tribute, 4 cyl. manual trans. and it has tire press. monitors, but no cruise control. Does Mazda offer something to retrofit or do I have to go aftermarket( bringing up warranty issues )? Tia, fratedog

cruise control is pretty hard to add after-market. you could wait and find one totalled out that has cruise control, then do a straight swap from the donor to your truck. you will need the ecu also, so that brings up some wiring/harness issues. it's a lot easier to remove than it is to install.

Thanks Wes, i guess a factory retrofit is difficult, so what about some of the aftermarket kits?? I've found at least one that supposedly works. Just don't know how hard to install and what mazda will say. Once again appreciate your input, fgerard

i am not sure on what the quality is of aftermarket kits, but i am sure that they are a lot easier to install than a retrofit. the only way that it would really affect the warranty is if there was a problem that could link back to the electronics. the stealership can always find a way to void a warranty over aftermarket work, so i would steer clear if you are really concerned about the warranty. i have seen them void warranties over things as simple as not having your oil changed by them.

Check your local yellow pages for aftermarket accessories under 'automobile'. There's a company here in Rochester that specializes in adding aftermarket items such as cruise control, power mirrors, etc. Not sure where you live, but the company here is named Temstad. Being a reputable company, I am sure they take into consideration warranty issues.
