Their solution makes it sound like some kind of tolerance issue. Ghetto fix IMO.
Yes def tolerance on assembly by the sound of it “ghetto fix” Lol

not with an auto trans. You’ll need to get a large socket onto the crank pulley and turn it by hand, clockwise only.

even going back in neutral then forward in drive?

if i did the crank bolt, do u think i could do it from underneath? Or would i have to take the wheel off?

taking the cam caps off is that a big deal? Nothing is under tension right?

An auto wont (shouldnt), turn the engine when you push the car, the torque converter shouldnt drive that way.

the cam caps will rise under some tension as the some valves will be open and under tension, undo the cap bolts evenly, a turn at a time across all of them.

So do i take them all off then put them on or one off, then put it back on?

You would need to follow those service instructions, from memory they stress cap removal completely, not just loosen and retorque.

Yea they do. I just wasn’t sure if you remove al of them at once or just remove one and put it back in place then go to the next. Then torque them all down.

vs taking them all off laying them down, then putting them back on

If it only talks about removing caps then I would take that to mean one by one is ok (biasing that one sideways as instructed), removing all would be akin to camshaft removal which would need the chain removing I think.

Just as an update .. I completed this TSB over the weekend. It fixed the problem.

I didn't use a screwdriver to hold down the cam cap I had my father just push as hard as he could with his hand.

When I took the valve cover off nothing was loose, I couldn't make anything click.

Taking off the cam caps i had to use a mallet to loosen because they have dowels on them.

Also I inspected the underside of the cam caps and they were all smooth, so the noise is quite a weird mystery but the TSB fixes it!

The job is not difficult, just tedious and time consuming
