A/C Problems
2002 Tribute. A/C was working great last summer, now compressor won't come on. Bought recharge kit, pressure seemed low (though compressor never kicked on) recharged with R134. Turn on A/C, but compressor won't come on, clutch not engaging.
Check fuses and relay, all are good. Wire compressor clutch straight to battery, turn on A/C, and check R134 level, it's a little bit low. Add until correct level, compressor and clutch work just fine, starts blowing nice and cold in the cabin. Disconnect direct battery connection, and put back to factory specs through compressor clutch plug direct from fuse box under hood.
Now the compressor clutch stays on for 20-30 seconds, kicks off, comes back on, etc. Condenser lines get nice and cool, but no cold air in the cabin. Replaced low pressure clutch sensor as this seems to be a common problem, no change--clutch kicks on for 15-20 seconds, kicks off, kicks back on. It works great when wired directly to battery, any ideas on what the problem might be?
Thanks!
