Default After Going to the Service Department....

On March 9, 2010 I took my car to the local Mazda Dealership for a service because the gas pedal was sticking and an oil change. Two days ago the oil light came on and went away. The next day I was driving to work when the oil light came on again and this time the engine was making a loud clanking noise, I pulled into a gas station checked the oil and it was empty! I put in three qts of oil and drove it back home, still makes a loud clanking noise. OUr friend, who is a mechanic, says we will need a new motor. He finds it strange that the oil was burned so fast? The sticker from the dealership says the next service should be in June 9th. and we haven't reached the mileage they recommend for the next service either. The car has no oil leak.

My question is this, does the service department warrant their work? Do I have a case since something is obviously wrong? Any help is appreciated?
