Default 2011 Tribute Front Brake Replacement: Can't find the correct pad!

Hi all,

This is my first post and I am glad I stumbled upon this forum because neither the dealer or my local parts stores seem to be able to help.

My front brakes are coming close to the end of their life, so picked up some new pads to replace the old.

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...ront/_/N-8ko29

These were the pads I picked up from autozone, but when I tried to place the new pads into the caliper piston, the clips on the new pads were way too big and would not push in far enough to sit flat against the piston. I flipped over the old pads and noticed the clips were smaller and shaped differently (the clips were not bent backwards).

Does anyone have a clue what part I should be using? I called the dealer and they directed me to the same (wrong) part. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are the pads the same? What that clip does is just holds the pad in the caliper cup for installation. If the pads are the same, are the old clips detachable? If so, swap em out. I have an 02 Tribute that dosen't use them. Should add, it might in this model, have the squeaker on it. Mine had the squeaker riveted to the shoe.

The clip is riveted onto the pad and these don't have a squeaker. Do you think I could take a dremmel to the clip and cut/grind them down to size?

It's been quite cold here so I haven't been able to get the pads off yet. The clip looks similar to rear brake pad clips (not the drum obviously).
