I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute ES and have been having issues for about 2 weeks with my car randomly stalling while driving but eventually starting again...I got a new battery but the problem got worse. Today I changed the fuel pump and that made no difference.

The battery light is on while the car is running but as I said I just put in a new battery. The alternator was replaced a year ago, August 2011.

ANY ideas?

 

If the battery light is on then theres a problem with the charging system or it wouldnt be on. Just because the alternator was changed a year ago doesnt mean its good. I've seen new parts fail.

 

Ditto with checking the alternator and its wiring, a faulty alternator could be feeding the entire system with AC voltage screwing up the ECU's inputs and outputs leading to the stalling.

 

That needs taken in and have them check the charging. They will probably do that for free at some places to see whats wrong.
