2002 Tribute Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
 

I purchase my Mazda Tribute used so I have no manuals. Does anyone have a secret to changing the front turn signal bulb without removing the headlight assembly. I talked to the guys at Mazda here and they said it could be reached under the hood. I don't know what kind of majic trick they use but I can not reach it. Any Ideas or suggestions?

[:'(] Hello I'm back. Well here is how this goes. I think someone in engineering was not thinking about the turn singnal bulb ever burning out. First I thought that there must be a trick. I even asked the Mazda Dealer in Des Moines and they said that it could be reached under the hood. Then I stopped by my mechanics and he said that you had to undo the nuts holding the head light assembly, pull it out a little and replace the bulb. That was fine and dandy till you got to the nut in the back of the assemble. It is spot welded on. So after a little more reasearch I finally found out how to replace the front turn signal on a 2002 Mazda Tribute.

1. Jack up the vehicle on the desired side.
2. Revove the front wheel.
3. Remove clips and screws allowing you to remove the liner under the fender.
4. Remove the bulb socket
5. Replace bub
6. Replace socket
7. Replace under liner
8. Replace wheel
9. lower vehicle and remove jack.
10. Hope you never burn another turn signal bulb.

Do not get me wrong. I still love my Tribute. I bought it used with 120,000 miles on it and just returned from a vacation to Nova Scotia and the East coast. Drove more that 5,500 miles and did not use a drop of oil or have any mechanical problems. Great gas mileage and resonable comfort.

Just fixed both front turn signal bulbs on 2001 Mazda Tribute LX.

No need to jack up the car, or remove the front wheel.

Simply
1. For the side you are replacing, turn steering wheel to turn that tire to point towards engine. (This gives you room to work. )
2. Remove 3 screws and corresponding clips from the liner under the fender. I first unscrewed the screws, then popped three clips out.
4. Pull back liner so you can reach your arm up and Remove the bulb socket
5. Replace bulb
6. Replace socket
7. Replace under liner screws and clips
8. Done ... took me less than 5 minutes per wheel.

thanks very much, the above info worked well, 2006 Mazda Tribute (2.3L?), front blinker (turn) light.
There are 3 clips and 1 screw to remove.
The bulb comes out by turning anticlockwise (1/8 of a turn).
With the clips, the phillips head is a trick, just use a sharp knife to pull out the inner ring, this releases the clip, and then pry the entire clip off. This way you won't break the clip and they can be reused.
I though it was the bulb, but I tested the bulb on a 12V battery, and it worked well. I cleaned the terminals (where the bulb connects), and it worked again!
