Default 2002 3.0 oil pressure light problem

i have a 2002 tribute with a 3.0, the oil pressure light was flickering at a idle after i got it warmed up, if you hit the throttle to 1000 rpm or above it went away. i changed the oil pressure sending unit and now it says on solid in stead of flikering till about 1700 rpm. the old sending unit was bad and had oil coming out of it.

is it possiable that the wiring to the sending unit is bad? i am going to put a mech gauge on it tonight and try to get what the oil pressure is.

the oil level is full, there is no metal in the oil, and the motor sounds perfect, no ticks, knocks, etc. and has plenty of power.

anyone else have this problem before?

thanks for the help

I am having the same problem with my 2001 at idle after the oil has had a chance to heat up. Mine goes off once the RPM goes about 600 RPM. Did you resolve your problem? Does any one have any suggestions? Thanks
