Default 2001 Tribute Key Cylinder Jammed

I was installing a remote start on my 2001 Mazda Tribute with Manual Transmission when the key struggled to pull out when the car stalled. I didn't think it was a big deal... until five minutes later it fought me to put the key back in and the key would not move to the on or accessory position.

Is it possible that any of my wiring to the PATS (passive anti-theft system) could have locked the cylinder?.... or is it simply that I have a bad cylinder for my key, and need to have a locksmith replace it? I've called three locksmiths and repair shops, and have gotten both answers.... most lean toward a bad cylinder, though.

thanks,

Default RE: 2001 Tribute Key Cylinder Jammed

***UPDATE***

Found out my cylinder jammed. It was not related to any of the other work I was doing on the car... simply bad luck in timing. It cost me $215 to have a locksmith come cut out the old cylinder, pick the lock to get it to turn to ON, and replace it with a new cylinder. He did a fantastic job, and was able to set the new cylinder to my current key cuts. Saved me a bit by doing it. I did watch him in how to get the old cylinder out... something I could have done if I knew in advance how to do it! Will remember for future use!
