Hi,
I have 2001 Mazda tribute (automatic transmission) with 96k miles on it. My car wont move into drive gear. It works in reverse gear. Also I can drive it in first and second gear and then shift it to drive and it can move. But it wont move when shifted form park to drive gear. It just revs like it in neutral. What can be the problem? Please help..

 

Trouble with the gear shifter as in hard to shift it out of park? I have an 02 that doses that. I think it is a mechanical issue with the gear shift.

 

No, it does not look like trouble with gear shifter. Shifting is easy, the car does not move the way it should in drive gear. It revs a lot and moves very slowly. But if I go to drive gear from 1st and 2nd gear, it moves fine. I am taking it to mechanic today. Will post their opinion on the thread later...

curious on the solution and a rough estimate on how much I'm up for as mine (2001)Mazda tribute done the exact same thing this morning was lucky to drive it back home in reverse as not to far from home
